This Privacy Policy explains how SMS Messages Backup & Restore (“the Application”, “we”, “our”, or “us”), operated by Aomata Technologies, collects, uses, and protects information when you use the SMS Messages Backup & Restore mobile application and related services.
We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal data. This Privacy Policy describes what information may be accessed by the Application, how it is used, and how it is protected.
This Privacy Policy is designed to comply with applicable privacy regulations including GDPR (EU/UK), CCPA/CPRA (California), VCDPA (Virginia), CPA (Colorado), LGPD (Brazil) and applicable Google Play policies.

- Crash reports
- Application performance data
- Advertising identifiers (such as the Android Advertising ID)
This information helps us improve application stability, functionality, and user experience.
2. SMS and Messages Access
The Application requires access to SMS and MMS messages in order to perform message backup and transfer functionality.
The Application may use the following Android permissions:
- READ_SMS – to read messages from the sender device
- WRITE_SMS – to restore or write messages on the receiving device
These permissions are used solely for the following purposes:
- Transferring messages from one device to another
- Restoring SMS messages on a new device
- Creating backups stored locally on the user's device
Important privacy protections:
- Messages are processed only on the user’s device
- Messages are transferred directly between devices
- Message content is never uploaded to our servers
- Message content is not shared with third parties
All transfers occur only after user confirmation.
3. Default SMS Application Requirement
In order to restore or write SMS messages on the receiving device, Android may require the Application to temporarily become the default SMS handler.
When this occurs:
- Users will be clearly informed before the change takes place
- The default SMS application can be restored after the transfer process is completed
This requirement is part of Android system restrictions for writing SMS messages.
4. Camera Permission
The Application may request access to your device camera in order to scan QR codes.
QR codes are used to securely connect two devices during the message transfer process.
Camera access is used only for QR code scanning and is not used to capture or store photos or videos.
5. Location Permission
The Application may request location permission to assist with establishing a secure connection between devices when using Wi-Fi hotspot or local network connections.
Location data:
- Is used only for device discovery during transfers
- Is not stored by us
- Is not transmitted to our servers
6. Third-Party Services
The Application may use trusted third-party services that help improve performance and functionality.
These may include:
- Google Play Services
- Firebase Analytics
- Google AdMob (if advertising is present)
These providers may collect limited device identifiers and usage data according to their own privacy policies.
We do not provide SMS or message content to these providers.
7. International Data Transfers
Some analytics or advertising providers may process data outside your country of residence.
Where required, we implement appropriate safeguards such as:
